Affiliations Building in the Midwest PL

The Midwest Premier League, NISA's affiliate based in the Midwest region of the US announced a groundbreaking new partnership today, adding their first ever feeder league. Hopefully soon, the MWPL will add more and forge the path for Promotion and Relegation to the league, through the state regional leagues across the country.

The Wisconsin Primary Amatuer Soccer League will be the first feeder league for the MWPL. Based in Wisconsin, the league has operated since 2019, and it was founded by Kaden Bergman and Axel Berger. The league houses clubs from all over Northwestern Wisconsin, and according to the WPASL's website, the league's goal is to "give high-level soccer players in Northwestern Wisconsin the opportunity to play in a competitive environment."

This partnership will nurture the values of club focused, open system soccer, as both leagues have these beliefs. According to the leagues website, "the MWPL and WPASL will work together to develop clubs and players within Wisconsin. Wisconsin-based clubs within the MWPL will be encouraged to field reserve/development teams within the WPASL if needed, as well as potentially combining try-outs of clubs within the two leagues." So, this partnership won't just be for open soccer connections, but for reserve teams for clubs based in Wisconsin in the MWPL. (Currently, only Milwaukee Bavarians are in the MWPL. They could house a reserve team through the WPASL.)

It's always great to see these partnerships, and even better to be able to write about them. The connections are always being built for NISA affiliates, and NISA leagues, so always make sure to look for more news for partnerships. ISB will continue to cover the NISA Pyramid, and will try to get every post about a partnership out the same day it happens. Thank you for reading, and get ready for our Q&A post tomorrow!
