There are some huge myths that hold back soccer in this country. Arguably, none worse than the myth that says promotion and relegation won't work in the US. When people say pro-rel won't work in this country, they are wrong for many reasons. Reasons that go back for decades and decades, and that are rooted right to the foundation of soccer in the USA. But, recently, NISA is working to fix this myth, by creating affiliations and new leagues with sporting merit. In this blog post, ISB is going to be covering why this myth is wrong with different reasons, and how NISA is working to fix this myth.

Reason 1: The Framework of American Sports

Americans have been tricked into thinking that promotion and relegation won't work. Because of businessmen that have shaped our sports to be greedy, no one has thought of it any other way. If you think of all huge sports leagues in the country, the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and MLS come to mind.

All of those leagues use expansion fees, and are closed leagues, meaning there is no pro-rel. These leagues have been woven into this greedy sports format, and Americans don't know sports in any other way in our country.

Reason 2: Americans Haven't Been Introduced to Any Other Format

For decades, we have been watching our teams. And Americans only know one type of format in their sports. No expansion fees, a closed league, conferences, and playoffs at the end of their sports seasons. Because of this, people don't know it any other way. So there is no way for these people to say pro-rel won't work, because they've never been around it.

How NISA is Working to Fix US Soccer

It's very sad to see these sports like they are. But, NISA is working to fix our beloved sport of soccer in this country. The league, as you may know, was founded in 2017, and in the course of 4 years has created many affiliations. By creating this affilations, they are paving the way for promotion and relegation, sporting merit.

Regional soccer leagues from across the country, like the EPSL, GCPL, and MWPL (To name a few), have affiliated with NISA. And because of this, NISA has coverage from all over the country, at all different levels. These leagues will be apart of a new sports format in the country, a way that will be groundbreaking.
