If somebody asked you what town "Soccertown, USA" is you wouldn't normally think of Kearny, New Jersey. But this small town tucked away on the East Coast has housed several quality football clubs and has developed US Senior Men's National Team players such as Tony Meola, John Harkes, and Houston Dynamo coach Tab Ramos. They've had a great soccer history, but recently that's slowed down a little bit. The town's soccer history has dwindled over the last 20 years, but there is a club joining NISA Affiliate EPSL. Kearny Scots AC is the first club to be included in the "Know the Club" series.

Kearny Scots were founded in the late 19th century, and they're one of the oldest clubs in US Soccer history. They were an original member of the National Association Football League (NAFBL), a league that was based around New York and New Jersey. The club continued to grow, and survived even when the NAFBL folded, and continued to float around other leagues. After a couple decades, the club had been a part of the American Soccer League, but had to withdraw after the 52/53 season.

Despite what seemed like the death of one of Kearny's most famous clubs and an iconic American club, the Scots recently were rejuvenated, and have now joined the Eastern Premier Soccer League, a league affiliated with NISA. It's going to be fun to follow this club through their new journey, playing the game in the US at the premier amateur level.
